Decorating a Blue Day...

Ok, so I have been feeling blue for more than a day. 2 weeks in fact.

Firstly, a close colleague who has been a good friend has left to return to the states rather suddenly. We had a roaring gals' night out where we went for 3-4 rounds of drinks on the last day of last week's meetings which was also her last day in Singapore. We proceeded for dinner at another colleague's house where she whipped up some grand Filipino dishes which were just divine. More drinks while we waited for dinner and took turns on the Magic Mike. I wasn't really up for singing my heart out before dinner so was rocking myself on the banana bed while the others were trying to outdo each other's score on the Mike.

We made fun of the people we didn't like at the office (aka "Bruno"), and sniffed at all the bottles of spices and sauces that our hostess brought out so that we could investigate her recipes and discussed about the different ways of cooking each particular dish... very much girl talk stuff.

Of course, it was more time on the Magic Mike and before we knew it, it was time to present our going away gift, a photo frame, with photos of our escapades together at company functions & dinners. She made a little speech amidst teary eyes, and we made a pact to meet up 3 years later on the same day no matter where we were...

It was then hugs and goodbyes before we made our way home...

Lisa Ono in Town

Went down with a friend from my small group today to get tickets for the Lisa Ono Jambalaya Tour, and am I excited!! The first time I heard her was a few years ago when I was going out for dinner with a guy friend and her album was playing in his Peugeot CD player. I fell in love with it almost immediately and have been a fan of hers ever since. Kind of ironic now that I am no longer in contact with my friend but still listen to Lisa. Cheers to those swinging good ol' times...! Anybody have a pair of binoculars to spare?

The Bohemian / Gothic Apartment

Yes, such an apartment actually exists. Unfortunately or not, it also happens to be my apartment. I've gone a little eccentric concerning the look of my new home, but I'm happy to announce that renovations will be completed by end of next week. It would have been ready now except that I changed my mind on a couple of things, and am now tiling my kitchen and doing a few other minor installations. So my flat will be ready next week. Will upload pics as soon as my furniture gets in.

Hazy Days

Seems like my non-blogging sessions have been stretching to longer periods and more frequently. Yes, I have been busy. And after hours of facing the computer at work the whole day, I just want to chill out and get away from the laptop, or at least out of 4 walls for some healthy fresh air.

Not that there's much of that these days. With the PSI index for Singapore climbing up to 140 or more, venturing outdoors is more a health hazard than a benefit. The smoke from the forest fires in Indonesia have been carried to Singapore via the South Westerly winds. Thankfully, NEA reports that after the weekend that passed, winds are shifting and our haze situation should improve. This condition may be shortlived, though as the winds can still change.

For more information, visit the National Environment Agency (NEA) site. PSI readings are updated at 3 hourly intervals.
